I am very excited to do a review for this game, I like frogs and even have some living in my garden. I used to skateboard too. This game involves a skateboarding frog. Oh…. and this froggy has weapons. A cute little kickflipping backflipping sword-swinging creature of pure cuteness. The dev plans to make more cute games so I will have my eye on them as I love cute games. There is something very pure and good about games like this and it makes me feel almost childlike so plus points for the nostalgic effect and let’s be honest we all love nostalgia it takes us back to a place of comfort, love, and understanding. Who understands games better than the gamers themselves? Let’s continue with the review.

Players control a lively frog as he skates around the screen, we do mean around since the game is essentially endless in level design as the player is placed within a circle which they can then travel around the inside of. This can become tricky when going upside down since the controls reverse but you could play at the bottom most of the time and only fight at the top when you know you are going to win. Collect power-ups, do tricks, and engage in exciting battles with waves of adorable enemies. The controls are intuitive and responsive, allowing players to navigate smoothly and unleash their frog’s special abilities strategically. The abilities feel satisfying and doing skateboard tricks is probably the most fun way to damage your enemies as it is effective, looks stylish, and feels cool to perform. It feels natural and fluid quickly becoming addictive. The game strikes a satisfying balance between approachable gameplay and challenging levels, making it suitable for players of all ages.
The roguelike element?
Starting with the classic Ollie to doing a kickflip or a backflip to summoning thunder whilst doing them. Effortlessly swinging around a sword far too large for you, throwing fireballs whilst listening to your latest jams hit a bass so hard it causes your foes to take damage. Choose carefully and play to your advantage, at the end of every level you will have to make important choices as to exactly what abilities you want to use. I suggest trying them all and then sticking with the ones that work best for you. Don’t forget to heal every now and again. You even sometimes get a bonus to your stat points for picking a certain skill.
The game’s sound design further contributes to the immersive experience. The upbeat and catchy soundtrack complements the adorable visuals and the fast-paced action, creating an enjoyable audio-visual synergy. The sound effects are well-designed and add a satisfying touch to the gameplay, heightening the sense of excitement and accomplishment.
While Froggy’s Battle captivates players with its charming gameplay and cute aesthetics, it could benefit from additional content and improvements to extend the longevity of the game.
